Aisha Abubakar is an exceptional woman of substance with over two decades of professional experience covering Public Service Administration, Pension, Investment Banking, SME Finance/Rural Enterprise Development & Micro Credit Administration, International Development and Human Resource Management.
Her work experience has focused principally on Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Women Development and Family Livelihood Enhancement both locally and internationally.
She worked at the African Development Bank (AfDB), Abidjan as Senior Bilateral Co-operation Officer from 1993 to 1997 and in the Lagos office of AfDB from 1998 to 1999. In 1999 she moved to the African International Bank (AIB) in Lagos, where she rose to the position of a Senior Manager. She later joined the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) In 2005.
Her quest for performance and excellence saw her assuming higher roles as a Pioneer Director seeing to the welfare of pensioners under the customs, immigration and prisons department at the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
She had only been in PTAD for a few months, when His Excellency President Muhammad Buhari appointed her as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in November 2015.
