One way to get ready for a trip is to check the ‘gram for colorful photos of your destination. Luckily, Africa isn’t short of amazing photographers who have been documenting everyday life, music scenes, markets, food and nightlife. To gear up for your travels to Lagos, here are three photographers based in the city you should follow.

@tomsaater

Catch glimpses of everyday life in places like Lagos, Abuja and Maiduguri on Tom Saater’s feed. The documentary photographer’s work spans from Sarajevo to Spain. But travelers to Lagos will especially like his snapshots of the city.

@yagazieemezi

The photographer and vlogger captures workers, cities, art, fashion, travel and more on her feed. She’s covered Felabrations as well as Lagos Fashion Week and Design. Fun fact: her artistry surpasses photography; she’s also a cartoonist.

@andrewesiebo

unnamed-2

Andrew Esiebo made it on our list of Instagrammers On The Continent To Watch last year and we like him so much he’s on this list as well. Esiebo shoots everything from the skylines to the coasts of Lagos. He also captures the everyday from smiling school children to traffic.

All three photographers are coming to #TravelAfricaDay on February 23rd. They’ll be joining us for a discussion and an #Instameet where SMW attendees will get a chance to go on a ‘tour’ with each photographer and pick up tips on how to get the best possible shot.

The theme for Social Media Week Lagos 2016 is The Networked African. If you have any questions about traveling to the conference, please contact yours truly at roxanne.scott@gmail.com. I hope to see you in Lagos.
