We haven’t posted an installment of #WTLagos in a while — apologies! Below is just a small handful of recent happenings that Lagosians are talking about online! Our last #WTLagos of 2012 is pretty music/entertainment-heavy — it was a big year for the Nigerian music scene!

#KokoConcert

D’Banj’s Star-studded Koko Concert: Nigerian entertainer D’Banj joined forces with U.S. rappers Big Sean, Pusha T and British-Nigerian rapper Tinie Tempah to bring Lagos the Koko Concert 2012. It was hosted by British-Nigerian actor Idris Elba. Nigerians in-country and across the Diaspora took to Twitter to comment on what feels like a new wave of popular U.S. hip-hop entertainers visiting The Motherland to perform! Did you attend? How was it? The concert was streaming online, so that’s how I tuned in!

#ChrisBrown  #WizKid

Chris Brown and WizKid = international bromance?: Chris Brown had Lagos as a stop on his Carpe Diem world tour and shared the stage with Nigerian rap star WizKid.  Chris followed WizKid on Instagram, and…I can feel you looking at me like this isn’t news! but to some, it simply shows that U.S. performers are more than willing to tour in African countries and make international connections with African superstars. Do I smell a WizKid crossover into the U.S. a la D’Banj and Kanye West?

#Odemwingie #SuperEagles

#Folarin

Wale releases new mixtape ‘Folarin’:The Nigerian-American rapper Wale Folarin released his self-titled mixtape on Christmas Eve. It’s making the Internet rounds, and it warrants a spot on #WTLagos because the Maybach Music rapper has close ties to the country. He always seems to be the center of discussion when we talk about famous Africans in U.S. hip hop. Does he “rep” Naija enough? Is it his responsibility to always talk about Nigeria whenever he can? Hmmm…Watch his latest video from the mixtape here.
